The report also notes that this investment is part of Microsoft’s new focus on blockbuster games and high-quality first-party experiences and a reduction in investment in non-core parts of its games division.
Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier previously also stated that Kojima asked for a bigger budget from PlayStation. However, note that Jason has not independently verified.
According to reports, Xbox might have also rejected the initial budget amount that Kojima Production would have asked, further negotiating and agreeing for a lower final investment.
