Veilguard’s poor reception & upcoming Mass Effect 5
BioWare has made some of the best games in history, like the Mass Effect series, Baldur’s Gate, the Dragon Age franchise and more. Especially, the Dragon Age franchise was one of the popular series whose future is looking worse.
With the recent underwhelming reception of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, fans have started to doubt the credibility of the studio for the RPG genre. Let’s check out more details in this article.
The Veilguard’s impact & BioWare’s shrinking workforce
Dragon Age: The Veilguard was supposed to be the revival of the franchise, however, BioWare really fumbled it very hard. It falls off a lot in terms of meeting expectations and leads to a significant financial hit on EA.
This game failure was not just for the franchise but for the studio as well. There is no doubt that the fans won’t even consider to even care for this franchise anymore.
Even the studio itself has made some bold decisions and started to restructure everything for its next project. According to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, BioWare’s workforce has shrunk to less than 100 individuals from more than double that number just a year ago.
Many people have been relocated to other EA projects, including Skate and Iron Man, with others facing permanent moves, prompting dissatisfaction among employees despite job security.

What’s next?
For now, there are no reports or leaks suggesting that the Dragon Age franchise will continue or not. But for now, BioWare is fully focused on developing the next game: Mass Effect 5.
Many journalists and fans are already speculating that this might be the studio’s last chance to deliver something good. There are also chances that the studio might even shut down if things don’t go well with Mass Effect 5 based on fans’ speculations.
Even right now, fans’ reactions to this news as well is very negative and they can’t trust the studio for now. It seems they have lost all their hope after the disaster with Dragon Age: The Veilguard. What are your thoughts on this? Do share your thoughts with us in the comment section.
