EA is looking to expand the current game
Some amazing news for Formula 1 lovers and fans who love to play F1 games. EA Sports is now skipping the F1 26 game; instead, they are looking forward to expanding the current game, F1 25.
This will be a paid expansion in 2026 with new cars, drivers, teams and focusing on skipping the sequel. They will also focus on a new F1 title in 2027, which promises a fresh new experience that will “look, feel, and play differently” with “more gameplay choices.”
Committed to Formula 1
Codemaster Senior Creative Director Lee Mather has also shared some thoughts:
“F1 25 has been an incredible success, fueled by the passion of fans and the energy of the sport. With Formula 1’s momentum on and off the track, now is the perfect time for us to look ahead and build for the future.
“We’re fully committed to the EA Sports F1 franchise. Our multi-year plan extends this year’s excitement with the 2026 expansion and reimagines the F1 experience for 2027 to deliver even more for players at every level around the world.”
Annual editions risked becoming stale. F1 25 destroyed it with a Braking Point redesign and physics improvement.
Expansion effortlessly integrates 2026 regulations; 2027’s upgrade offers “expanded choices,” implying customizable races or team-building depth.
The timing corresponds to EA’s seismic shift: Saudi PIF, Silver Lake, and Affinity acquired Stability AI for $55 billion (closing Q1 FY2027/June 2026), and they’re collaborating on “transformative” tools.

Final Thoughts
This is a very good decision from EA Sports. Instead of providing the F1 title every year, they are now focusing on the current title and looking forward to expanding it.
This will also give them some extra time to work on the next title to deliver something unique and different from all the F1 titles they have worked on till now.
