Big comeback for the College hoops
EA Sports has recently hyped up the fans by hinting at the College Basketball. Announced on June 30, 2025, with a teaser post on X that read, “Bring the Madness.”
The game, “Let’s Run It Back,” has inspired excitement among fans anxious to hit the digital hardwood. Let’s find out more details in this article.
Expected release timeline for College Basketball
Most probably, this game is going to be titled as EA Sports College Basketball instead of NCAA Basketball, and is targeting a 2028-2029 launch.
The prolonged schedule reflects the complexities of generating arena assets, uniforms, and rosters for hundreds of different teams.
The NCAA will be a licensed partner, and due to Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) requirements, actual players will be included, with remuneration comparable to the $1,500 provided for College Football 26.

Long-awaited return
This announcement was considered after the College Football 2025’s huge success, which generated over $1 billion in revenue and became 2024’s second-best-selling game in the US.
According to Extra Points’ Matt Brown, a memo from the Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC) dated June 26, 2025, states that EA Sports won a competitive bidding process to develop the game, beating out two other official bidders.
The CLC’s plan, presented in November 2024, emphasizes the participation of both men’s and women’s Division I teams (approximately 700 programs), assuring gender balance from the start.
Developing College Basketball won’t be that easy and will require a lot of time and development at EA Sports and 2K.
Discussion about this game was already in talks among EA and 2K after the College Football 2025 success, according to reports.
Fans will also be getting NBA 2K26 and after that, all eyes will be set on experiencing the College hoops with the returning series.
