The company delists from NASDAQ

After many rumors and speculation, Electronic Arts has now officially completed its $55 billion acquisition. This deal was led by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) alongside Silver Lake and Affinity Partners.

The deal officially closed on August 4, 2026, which makes EA a privately owned company. The company’s stock has also been delisted from NASDAQ.

Electronic Arts promises creative freedom under new leadership

Following the completion of the new deal, EA CEO Andrew Wilson has said that they are entering a new phase with the new investors who also share the company’s long-term vision.

This new ownership structure will allow them to continue developing games with a player-first approach. They will also maintain creative independence across the studio.

Silver Lake also declared that the investment team is committed to assisting EA’s future endeavors, such as further investment in AI technologies that could help improve the player experience and game development.

Shareholders will receive cash as EA leaves the stock market

Electronic Arts has also confirmed that the shareholders will receive $210 in cash for each share they owned at the time of the deal’s completion.

This new buyout has removed the company from public trading. This will allow the publisher to work under a privately owned investor.

What happens next with EA?

If you are wondering what is going to happen next with the company and worrying about the games, then rest assured, EA has promised that their development team will have full control.

They will continue to deliver the games across all the major franchises. The publisher will no longer have to report to EA every three months to public markets, allowing the publisher to make more long-term business decisions.
