Rivals will join forces for eFootball-Featured FIFAe World Cup
FIFA has officially announced that they will join hands with their old-time rivals, Konami for the upcoming FIFAe World Cup eSports tournament. They are planning to work on a new game but for now, they will partner up with eFootball for the esports tournament.
Konami’s eFootball game, formerly known as Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) will power FIFA’s global eSports event. In this article, we will explore this new partnership, the reasons for collaboration and what it means for the football gaming community and the future of eSports.
FIFA’s Split from EA Sports
Over a decade, we have seen the dominating partnership between EA and FIFA dominate the football games on any platform. But in 2023, this partnership was broken and they decided to go their separate way with FIFA 23 being their last game.
Since FIFA has been without a licensed gaming partner until now EA relaunched its football simulation series as EA Sports FC.
Koji Kobayashi comments on the partnership
The senior executive said in an interview regarding the new partnership:
“The objective of this collaboration is to further boost the joy of the global football community through esports. By allowing players to represent their nations through dedicated competitions, this initiative will take the connection with the community to a new level.”
“We would like to express our sincere gratitude to FIFA for providing us with this opportunity. We can’t wait for the FIFAe World Cup to begin. We look forward to sharing the enthusiasm, excitement, and joy of our players around the world through the FIFAe World Cup.”
