Iconic original arrives on PS5
Microsoft has just announced Gears of War Reloaded, an amazing remaster of the 2006 classic, which is set to launch on August 26, 2025.
For the first time, this franchise will be arriving on PlayStation 5 alongside with Xbox Series X/S, PC and Xbox Game Pass.
Developed by The Coalition, Disbelief, and Sumo Interactive, let’s check out everything you need to know about this remaster.
Visual and technical overhaul
Gears of War Reloaded has cutting-edge upgrades such as 4K resolution, HDR, Dolby Vision, and 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos audio.
The game has reworked graphics, enhanced shadows and reflections, and super-resolution anti-aliasing.
The Campaign has zero loading screens and supports Variable Refresh Rate, ensuring a seamless experience.
The campaign operates at 60 frames per second (FPS), but multiplayer modes can reach 120 FPS for smooth, dramatic combat.

Cross-Play and Cross-Progression
The best part is that the Gears of War Reloaded remaster is going to support cross-play and cross-progression across all platforms.
Now, everyone can play together regardless of their system. While a Microsoft Account is not required to play, it is necessary for cross-progression and the complete cross-platform experience.
This ensures that your progress transfers across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
Free upgrades and Post-launch content
Owners of the digital Gears of War: Ultimate Edition (2015) can upgrade to Reloaded for no additional charge.
All post-launch DLC, including a bonus Campaign act, multiplayer maps, modes, classic characters, and cosmetics, will be free and available as players progress.
“We’re opening the door to more players than ever,” said Mike Crump, The Coalition’s studio leader, underlining the game’s emphasis on community and shared experiences.
Gears of War Reloaded Remaster revives the gritty and emotional story of Marcus Fenix and Delta Squad with its PlayStation debut.
First Indiana Jones, then Forza Horizon 5, Doom: The Dark Ages and now Gears of War. The iconic games from Xbox have found their way to PlayStation.
