Genshin Impact 5.6 update: Maintenance schedule, compensation & more details

The fans are pretty excited for the Genshin Impact 5.6 update, which is arriving on May 7, 2025. This will bring fresh new content, two new characters and more things.

Catch Every Update, Anytime, Anywhere
Maintenance schedule and compensation
Get ready, as the Genshin Impact 5.6 update will kick off with server maintenance on May 7, 2025, at 6:00 AM (UTC+8).
This is going to last around 5 hours and during this time, fans won’t be able to log in. As compensation, HoYoverse will provide 300 (60 per hour of downtime) to players at Adventure Rank 5 or higher.
You will be able to find this in your in-game mail and it will be valid for 30 days to claim it.
Pre-Installation
Good news for fans is that the pre-installation has already started from today and is available across PC, iOS, Android, PlayStation, and Xbox Series X|S.
Mobile users can pre-install by going to Paimon Menu (Settings > Resources > Pre-Install) or clicking the “Pre-Install Resource Package” icon on the login screen.
PC players can use the launcher’s “Pre-Install” button, however, console users will see automated pre-installation when they begin the game, if there is enough storage.
New Characters: Escoffier and Ifa
Genshin Impact 5.6 update will bring us two new characters: Escoffier and Ifa. Escoffier is a 5-star Cryo polearm user and former head chef of Hotel Debord, Escoffier is a hybrid support/sub-DPS.
While Ifa is a 4-star Anemo catalyst user from the Flower-Feather clan, Ifa focuses on healing and boosting Elemental Mastery.
Banners and Chronicled Wish
- Phase 1 (May 7–27, 2025): Escoffier (La Chanson Cerise) and Navia (In the Name of Rosula), with Ifa receiving a raised 4-star.
- Phase 2 (May 27–June 17, 2025): Kinich (Seeker of Flame-Wrought Secrets) and Raiden Shogun (Reign of Serenity).
- A Chronicled Wish banner with Inazuma characters (e.g., Ayaka and Yoimiya) will also return in Genshin Impact 5.6.
New Island and Boss
Genshin Impact 5.6 update will also bring a new island. It houses the Secret Source Automaton: Overseer Device, a Cryo-dealing world boss that is vulnerable to Nightsoul’s Blessing abilities.
The Game Before the Gate, a weekly boss associated with the Mondstadt Archon Quest, also appears.
