Genshin Impact PS4 support to end: What you need to know?

The HoYoverse has officially announced that Genshin Impact PS4 support is going to end and will not receive any new updates from April 8, 2026.

Why Genshin Impact PS4 support is ending?

HoYoverse has cited the hardware limitations and “platform application size” as the main reasons for them to end support on PS4 consoles.

If you are wondering about the PS5 support, then you don’t have to worry as it remains untouched. So, PS5 owners can enjoy all the latest updates and fresh content.

This is what the official X (Twitter handle) has to say about the latest update:

Dear Traveler,Thank you for your continued support and love for Genshin Impact on PS4®! Due to limitations related to hardware performance and platform application size, we will be discontinuing support and updates for Genshin Impact on PS4® in future versions.Genshin Impact on PS5® will continue to operate normally and is not affected by the removal and update discontinuation on PS4®. Traveler will still be able to enjoy the latest content updates on PS5® and other supported platforms.

Shutdown schedule

The shutdown removal will happen in three stages:

• Game Removal (September 10, 2025): You will be unable to find or download Genshin Impact on PS4.
• Delisting of In-Game Purchases (February 25, 2026): The in-game shop and PS Store will no longer sell items.
• End of Update Support: April 8, 2026; There are no more updates for the PS4 version.

Conclusion

There is no doubt that the PS4 owners who play Genshin aren’t happy with this decision. Even in the official post comments section, there has been constant backlash from the fans’ side.

However, many fans have already seen this coming from miles ahead on how the PS5 hardware can’t support any new games and updates. I think this is the time for them to finally get a upgrade to PS5 or PC.
