No more PlayStation exclusives on PC

It appears that Sony is making a major shift in its multiplatform strategy. Ghost of Yotei and Saros PC ports have been scrapped, according to the latest reports.

Going forward, the exclusive single-player title will remain exclusive to PlayStation 5, while live service, multiplayer and external devs’ games will make their way to PC.

Major strategy shift from PlayStation

At the start, there was some success bringing its exclusives to PC, starting from Horizon Zero Dawn and later titles like God of War. However, the recent PC ports have reportedly underperformed compared to the earlier ports.

According to the latest reports from Bloomberg, Sony is now reevulating it’s approach. There will be no more PS5 exclusive games coming to PC.

That means, Ghosts of Yotei, Saros and upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine will be PS5 exclusive. Only multiplayer, live-service and external PlayStation devs’ games will be coming to PC.

Marathon, Fairgames and Marvel Tokon are a few examples of the live-service multiplayer games that will be arriving on PC.

According to the plan, Sony is planning to use live service games to expand its ecosystem to all platforms and preserve narrative-driven exclusives as a major selling point of its hardware.

PlayStation PC ports performance

Here’s how the PlayStation game has performed on PC via Steam numbers:

  • Stellar Blade – 192k
  • Ghost of Tsushima – 77k
  • God of War – 73k
  • Spider-Man – 66k
  • Horizon Zero Dawn – 56k
  • Horizon Forbidden West – 40k
  • The Last of Us – 36k
  • God of War Ragnarok – 35k
  • The Last of Us Part II – 30k
  • Spider-Man 2 – 28k

For PlayStation fans, this might be a good thing, but PC players ain’t taking this news very well. There were players who were waiting for Ghost of Yotei, Saros and Wolverine PC ports.
