God of War remaster rumors: When can we expect the release date?

Many rumors and leaks were resolved around the God of War remaster, which was expected to be announced at the PlayStation State of Play event.

But now, according to Jeff Grubb, it appears that the Greek Saga will be announced at the 20th anniversary of the franchise for PS5. Let’s check out more details in this article.

When is God of War’s 20th anniversary?

The God of War franchise will turn 20 on March 22, 2025. We are almost one month away from the God of War remaster that will include the whole Greek Saga.

In response to an artist’s post about an Odin piece for a Gallery Nucleus display, he wrote, “Those rumors just jumped the gun a little bit.” “That stuff will happen closer to this.” This is consistent with past speculation about remasters of the first three games, which could highlight a younger Kratos in Greece and his strained relationship with Zeus.

If it is announced on the 20th anniversary, then we might see the God of War trilogy remaster around late 2025. This means, that it will have to compete against other Sony titles like Ghost of Yotei and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.

God of War Ragnarök was the last game that fans played in 2022 and it’s currently free for the PlayStation Plus subscribers in the game catalog.

The original trilogy (God of War, God of War II, and God of War III) established action gaming in the 2000s by combining harsh gameplay and epic plot. A remaster may update those PS2 and PS3 gems with modern visuals and performance, similar to what God of War III Remastered did for the PS4 in 2015. When combined with anniversary celebrations, it’s the perfect storm to revive Kratos’ legend.
