The gaming industry, fans and gamers are all shocked as Rockstar Games have officially announced that they are delaying GTA 6. It was originally scheduled to be released on May 26, 2026, but it will now be released on November 19, 2026.

The fans are disappointed, but many of them understand that the game’s expectations are too high, and Rockstar Games can’t deliver a Cyberpunk experience to them. Let’s check out more details in this article.

GTA 6 needs more polishing

Yes, the game needs more polishing as the expectations are quite high from the fans. This delay will allow Rockstar Games to properly finish the game.

According to Insider Gaming’s latest podcast, Tom Henderson revealed that a developer told him that they predict that the GTA 6 delay will cost Rockstar/Take-Two an extra $60M in development costs. ($10M a month).

He also thinks that this will be the last delay as the game content has been completed. All they need to do is to do more polishing, make it stable and perfect, to avoid the Cyberpunk situation.

He also believes that if there is a “single glitch that Rockstar can fix,” the game will simply not be released.

Rockstar won’t release GTA 6 until it’s totally perfect. There is no need to be concerned about the game’s quality when it eventually comes out.

I am very disappointed and sad, but I respect Rockstar Games’ decision. Let’s be honest, we don’t want another Cyberpunk launch situation.

But personally, I also think that all the delays are only making people’s expectations even bigger. At this point, I think many would not be satisfied with the game when it launches, even if the game is good.
