Gaming industry’s worst nightmare

The fans and community were really thrilled after they got some new updates on GTA 6. It seems like the Lego Fortnite tease really worked its charm. Jason Schreier’s new article on Bloomberg has revealed much new information on the game.

It appears that the game has missed multiple deadlines, but Rockstar Games remains on track for a fall 2025 release. Additionally, the article has highlighted how other gaming developers are hesitant to release their games concurrently with GTA 6, citing concerns about competition.

The fear of competing with a giant

GTA 6 will be the biggest release of 2025 and it is expected to launch around October to December 2025. However, the risk of delays looms large, prompting other game companies to exercise caution when planning their game releases.

According to Schreier’s insights, numerous publishers are holding off on announcing their fall 2025 game release dates. They want to see whether the game will stick to the fall release or might slip into 2026. This indicates that they don’t want to go and compete with Rockstar.

“Anticipation is so high that some competing game publishers are waiting as long as possible to commit to their release dates for the fall,” explains Schreier, citing anonymous industry sources. “The publishers want to see whether GTA 6 will make its deadline or slip into 2026, these people say, and they’re determined to keep their own games far, far away.”

If GTA 6 is delayed, other titles will have an opportunity to capture the autumn 2025 spotlight. However, until there is clarification on GTA 6’s actual release date, other publishers are playing a waiting game, possibly changing their own release plans to avoid a direct collision with this gaming monster.

New updates

Also, the article also revealed other new updates on the game like how the game is been in development for over a decade but truly entered full development after the Red Dead Redemptions 2 in 2018. The game will be less crude towards transgenders and other minorities.

The 2022 hack led Rockstar to be less flexible on remote work and return developers to the office five days a week. Reiterating that following the RDR2 crunch controversy, Rockstar overhauled its work atmosphere and fired key executives.
