We are getting close to the GTA 6 launch, which is definitely going to be the biggest entertainment launch of this year, even bigger than Avengers: Doomsday and Dune Part Three.
After the Extended Look, we have seen many gameplay previews and details from selected content creators and media outlets.
Recently, IGN posted a video on their social media accounts, where they were discussing the in-game smartphone features and how realistic they may get. Let’s check out those details in this article.

GTA 6 in-game smartphone will be more immersive than GTA 5 phone
Well, we have seen many new features and the open-world realism and immersion that is on a whole other level this time, if we compare it to GTA 5.
The same can be said for the in-game smartphone. According to an IGN video, the phone menu will no longer pop up in the bottom right corner of the screen.
Instead, the camera now zooms in on Jason’s hand or Lucia’s hand when they pull the phone out of their pocket. Rather than being part of the HUD display, the phone is going to be an actual in-game item.
In the video, the journalist also speculated that they won’t be surprised if Rockstar makes this item that can get lost or get a cracked screen. Now, imagine having a cracked screen in the game and visiting the repair shop to get it fixed. Didn’t players charge their phones? Now, you can not use the menus.
This realism and immersion might be impressive, but players might get irritated sometimes. For now, these are all speculation.
However, there are a few confirmed things that Rob Nelson (Co-studio head of Rockstar) revealed during an interview with Famitsu:
“You can send photos to your partner, but since both are wanted, you can’t post photos online. They’re in hiding, so they can’t post on social media.”
“Unlike GTA V, where it was displayed on screen as a 2D graphic, now you can use the phone as a physical object that actually exists in the world. You can handle it with a sensation similar to using a real smartphone.”

Conclusion
GTA 6 is pushing the boundaries of real-world realism and immersion on a whole other level this time. There is no doubt that the in-game smartphone will have more features and even social media that players might get addicted to.
GTA 6 is all set to launch on November 19, 2026, for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Hopefully, we will get another gameplay showcase or trailer as we get closer to the game’s launch.
Can Jason and Lucia send photos to each other in GTA 6?
Yes, Rockstar has confirmed that Jason and Lucia can send photos to each other through their in-game smartphones. However, because they are criminals hiding from the law, they cannot post these photos on social media.
How is the GTA 6 phone different from GTA 5?
Unlike GTA 5, where the phone appeared as a menu overlay on the screen, GTA 6 will feature the smartphone as a physical object. The camera will zoom in on Jason or Lucia using the phone, making it feel more realistic.
When will GTA 6 release?
