Fans have to wait till May 26, 2025, for GTA 6 and to make up for it, Rockstar Games released 2nd trailer, 70+ screenshots and some character details. After this trailer, a big question has arisen and it’s about the GTA 6 Online mode.

GTA 5’s GTA Online changed the franchise with its live-service approach, earning nearly $9 billion via regular updates and Shark Cards.

Is GTA 6 Online mode confirmed?

For now, Rockstar Games has not confirmed anything related to GTA 6 online mode. Even in the latest trailer, it only showed what is supposed to be the story mode.

There was no mention of the online mode even towards the end, where it showed the game will be available on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Considering how popular and successful GTA 5 online mode is, there is no chance that we won’t get an online mode in GTA VI.

According to a Bloomberg article from December 2024, GTA 6 will include a “significant online mode” that will generate money for years, similar to its predecessor.

While details are scant, the mode is expected to use GTA 5’s Shark Card system for in-game currency or similar microtransactions, building on a successful concept.

However, it is uncertain whether GTA 6 Online will launch alongside the main game or later, as GTA Online did weeks after GTA 5’s 2013 release.

What can fans expect?

With GTA 6 situated in bright, modern-day Vice City and the huge state of Leonida, the online mode promises a dynamic open world experience.

Expectations are sky-high following GTA Online’s decade-long reign, which included heists, role-playing, and cooperative missions.

The new RAGE 9 engine should provide greater graphics, physics, and seamless gameplay while also improving GTA Online’s outdated UI with new lobbies and menus.

There is already some tease about playing basketball, cage fighting and even being able to play PlayStation was shown in the GTA 6 trailer 2.

For now, it remains speculative whether this will be in online mode or exclusive to story mode.
