IGN has just shared its coverage of the GTA 6 preview that happened in August at Rockstar North. They have revealed a dozen gameplay mechanics, features and open-world experiences.

Jason and Lucia relationship goes beyond missions
The relationship of both protagonists is much deeper than the previous Rockstar pairings.
You can let Jason or Lucia drive and relax in the passenger seat, listen to the radio or even shoot in police chases. Text messages can also be sent to the partner to remind you to lock your safehouse, or to let you know they are going to bed.
Both main characters have extensive backstories that slowly reveal themselves during the campaign, and Lucia’s ankle monitor seems to be central to the story.
Sometimes when you switch to Jason, you can see him taking a shower completely naked. Previous leaks from CYBERLEAK also showed the nude beach and parties.
Snapmatic is back, but you can’t post anything as Jason or Lucia, as they both are trying to avoid leaving digital footprints. However, you can browse through social media, follow accounts and view other users’ posts.
More freedom during robberies & missions
According to IGN, Robberies will now include a risk-versus-reward mechanic. If you blast a safe open, it can let you escape quickly but may destroy some valuable loot.
While cracking the combinations may take longer, it will preserve the maximum rewards.
There are many missions that have multiple approaches. Players can choose whether to focus on stealth, driving or combat. GTA 6 story has also been designed with replayability in mind.
GTA 6 safehouses
The safehouses are going to be more like camps that were in Red Dead Redemption 2. Other characters will be able to drop in to visit your home during the story, and Jason and Lucia will follow their own daily routines.
Players may shave their heads or beards at home, but if they want completely new styles, they will still have to go to a barbershop or a hair salon.
Leonida’s clothing stores and salons are also rumored to provide exclusive clothing and hairstyles, which will encourage players to venture into other areas of the map.
GTA 6 also has fully functional vehicle trunks that will allow players to store spare weapons and clothing.
GTA 6 open world features & immersion
Rockstar Games is going all out with the GTA 6 open world and its immersion. Here are some reported features that will make Leonida feel more alive:
- Dogs can be petted—or scolded.
- Animals can be studied and tracked similarly to Red Dead Redemption 2.
- Taxi rides may feature full conversations between passengers.
- GTA 6 reportedly includes more TV and radio advertisements than any previous GTA title.
- Players can disarm enemies by shooting weapons out of their hands or incapacitating them with leg and arm shots.
- Cinematic slow-motion kill shots similar to Red Dead Redemption 2 can occur during combat.
