Perfection takes time

It’s been almost 16 months since the first GTA 6 trailer was dropped. Since then, there has been no news or updates except for the game being released in fall 2025.

Why are there no GTA 6 updates?

Recently, Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two had an interview with the Bloomberg where he revealed the strategy behind the current strategy of GTA 6.

“The anticipation may be the greatest I’ve ever seen for an entertainment property,” he said. “We want to maintain that excitement.”

Unlike other game publishers, Rockstar is keeping their door tightly shut related to any new updates for their new game. Everyone thinks that this is the best marketing strategy to maintain the hype for the game.

“We’ve found it’s better to drop marketing materials near the release window,” he explained. “It balances excitement with that sweet spot of unmet anticipation.”

Why the long wait?

The next GTA game is coming after 12 long years. According to Zelnick, this is by design. “We rest our intellectual property,” he stated, contrasting with competitors’ annual turnover.

Outside of sports titles like NBA 2K, which is Take-Two’s only annual release, big guns like GTA and Red Dead get some breathing room. For GTA 6, it’s all about chasing “perfection,” which Rockstar sets extremely high. “They seek perfection in what they do, and that’s a tough standard,” Zelnick told me.

There is no doubt that even fans agreed with it. They know, even if Rockstar Games take their time, they will deliver something that will be remember forever in the gaming community and among the fans.

GTA 6’s next revelation might take place during E3 2025 (June 10-12), which is a shorter timeframe for that marketing campaign.
