MongolZ send FaZe Clan back to the airport!
BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 quarterfinals just delivered a massive upset for the CS2 fans. The MongolZ defeated s1mple and FaZe Clan and silenced the whole rowdy crowd in the stadium.
Both teams went all out to secure their places for the semi-finals. Sadly, the FaZe Clan fell short and now they are out of the tournament.
s1mple is out!
The legend who returned on a loan to play with FaZe Clan has his hopes and dreams broken by Team MongolZ at the Quarterfinals.
It was already a dream run for him and fans were betting that FaZe might win it all. Sadly, it didn’t go that way and the whole crowd was left disappointed.
It won’t be wrong to say that the Austin crowd was the best, so rowdy and loud. They were cheering for s1mple and FaZe clan with their top of their lungs.
How did it happen?
The map choices set the tone: MongolZ banned Train, FaZe dropped Inferno, MongolZ chose Mirage, FaZe chose Anubis, and Ancient went unplayed.
On Mirage, FaZe took an early lead, but MongolZ came back to tie at 6-6. The Mongolians subsequently dominated with six consecutive rounds to secure a 13-9 victory.
Anubis matched the intensity, with FaZe holding a 5-7 halftime advantage. Despite FaZe’s key players Finn “karrigan” Andersen, Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski, and s1mple pushed hard, MongolZ’s unwavering persistence changed the tide, scoring a 13-11 victory.
MongolZ’s stunning sweep of 2-0 has now sent FaZe Clan back home and stunned the whole crowd. This is a huge victory for MongolZ.
But the job is not over yet for them, as they will now face PaiN Gaming in the semi-finals on June 21, 2025.
