Adventure Set in 19th-Century Krat

The first Sony PlayStation State of Play event finally concluded and the souls fans were quite surprised by the announcement of Lies of P Overture.

Now, this is more than a sequel or DLC, this is a prequel that will explore the haunting beauty of Krat during its final days of the late-19th-century Belle Époque.

Exploring Krat before the chaos

The new Lies of P Overture will take the players back to Krat, a city on the brink of turmoil, before the events of the original game.

This prequel tries to expand the lore and provide context for the beloved (or despised) puppet protagonist, shifting the focus away from Gepetto to explore different narratives and locales within this soulslike environment.

Release window and expectations

Although the exact release date has not been revealed, it was announced that this prequel expansion will arrive in Summer 2025.

The game’s debut trailer promised players a look at new environments, including a dramatic “new snow level,” implying both familiar and new gaming experiences.

Instead of a direct sequel to the original, Lies of P Overture takes a prequel approach, establishing the events that built the universe of Lies of P. This move could provide fans with a better knowledge of the game’s universe, characters, and the intricate narrative that made the previous game so engaging.

The combat and skills that were shown in the gameplay trailer look absolutely sick. This is such an underrated game and every souls fan should try the original title if you haven’t tried it yet.

There is no doubt that the upcoming Lies of P Overture will surely be amazing and will provide more soul-like experiences to the fans. Some might have been left disappointed because they were expecting a standalone sequel title that would explore more Wizard of Oz-inspired style story. But maybe, in the future, we might get that as well.
