The highly anticipated action RPG title from Ultizero Games, Lost Souls Aside gameplay was recently revealed just ahead of its August 29, 2025.

The game is also going to be present at PlayStation China Joy, where people will be able to play the test demo and get a first-hand experience. Let’s find out more details in this article.

New Lost Souls Aside gameplay showcase

A9VG recently posted the Lost Souls Aside gameplay, which mostly focused on the combat mechanics, highlighting Kaser’s amazing combat abilities and powers.

It’s a fluid action game combat system with a lot of operational potential, leaning more toward traditional action games than ARPGs.

It eliminates complicated move lists in favor of focusing on talents, which may be varied by holding down light or heavy assaults.

It caters to both casual players (simplified stamina, dodging/guarding, basic attacks, and special techniques) and skilled players.

Flexible combat

Combat is highly flexible, with strict positional and distance judgments that allow for complex and flashy combos.

The game focuses on fast-paced and flashy combat, with extensive visual effects for attacks and boss abilities.

The developers noticed significant time differences between players challenging the same boss, indicating the combat system’s depth.

There are no difficulty settings, although dying frequently results in powerful boosts or equipment.

Level design

Lost Soul Aside gameplay also revealed that the game relies on a linear path rather than an open environment, allowing players to focus on the main experience.

Levels are generally uncomplicated, with simple branching paths that prioritize progression, enemy combat, leveling up, and boss challenges.

Platforming aspects are included throughout the levels to increase replayability.

Customization

Players can improve their weapons and skills, creating a sense of progress. There are four varieties of weaponry (single-handed sword, greatsword, scythe, and gun-sword) with varying battle tactics.

Weapon attachments dropped by bosses or elite enemies improve stats and performance while also changing the weapon’s look.

Character development occurs through a talent tree, which unlocks new skills and improves existing ones.

Weapon accessories and special upgrade items obtained by defeating bosses/elite monsters provide basic attribute increases.

Players can create potions with a variety of benefits, including healing and combat bonuses. The game has several cosmetic skins for the protagonist, with more available as pre-order incentives. Key NPCs have distinct, custom-designed appearances.

Game Insights from Yang Bing

Yang Bing, the creator of Lost Soul Aside, also shared that the game’s serious development started in mid-2021.

His health was really impacted during the making of the game and this title is going to be an AA.

The game has 120 minutes of cutscenes, combining Wuxia fantasy elements with a Final Fantasy 7 Remake-style town with stores and NPCs—more than a Devil May Cry 5 clone.

Despite Chinese gamers’ interest, some demo players complained about the game’s shoddy animations and combat, raising questions about its $60 AAA price tag.
