Expect slower long-term sales
Despite the controversy and criticism, Marvel’s Wolverine had a strong commercial launch; however, an industry analyst thinks its long-term performance may differ.
According to a new report from Alinea Analytics, this PlayStation exclusive from Insomniac Games has sold around 1.9 million copies in the first three days.
So, according to reports, this title has already generated approximately $130 million in revenue. Despite a strong launch, ongoing criticism and mixed reactions from gamers could slow this impact in the long term.

Strong start for Marvel’s Wolverine
This game has become one of the biggest PlayStation launches this year. According to reports from Alinea Analytics, roughly 1 million copies were sold through digital orders.
Meanwhile, online, 22.9% of total sales came from physical copies, while the remainder were all digital.
There is no doubt that this trend only further strengthens PlayStation’s decision to go with the all-digital future and leave physical media production behind.
The game has roughly sold 1.9 million copies in three days and it is the best-performing PS5 title for this year, beating the likes of Saros and Marathon.
This data is based from Alinea Analytics and nothing is officially confirmed by Sony or Insomniac Games for now.
Mixed reaction could affect future sales
There are many mixed reviews from both critics and players for Marvel’s Wolverine. There is no doubt that this is the worst game from Insomniac Games in the decade, receiving a lower Metacritic rating.
Gamers have questioned the level designs, easy navigation, repetitive enemies & combat and poor story narrative. Fans believed that the reported $300 million budget and five years in development did not provide a result that everyone wanted.
The analyst believes that this reaction can affect the future sales of the game and it might hinder the leaked reported contracted with Marvel, where Wolverine needs to sell 6 million copies in the first year.
How many copies has Marvel’s Wolverine sold?
According to Alinea Analytics, Marvel’s Wolverine has sold approximately 1.9 million copies within its first three days after launch.
How many Marvel’s Wolverine sales were digital?
The report claims around 77% of total sales were digital, while only 22.9% came from physical copies.
Will Marvel’s Wolverine outsell Marvel’s Spider-Man?
Analysts currently believe that is unlikely. While the game has launched strongly, mixed player reception could prevent it from matching the commercial success of Insomniac’s Spider-Man series.
