Cold Symmetry has finally revealed the first open beta for their upcoming Dark Souls game, Mortal Shell 2. This free open beta test now finally arrives on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, after a successful PC test on Steam.

Mortal Shell 2 open beta is now available!
The open beta is now free to download on the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Xbox Store. You don’t have to pre-order or need a paid subscription to play the open beta.
This will be the same open beta that was provided to PC players on Steam. The game officially launches on August 20, 2026, on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
Players take on the role of the Harbinger and meander through the game’s opening Prologue and an early portion of its handcrafted open world.
The beta version contains approximately 3 hours of gameplay, including some hidden dungeons, optional bosses, new Shells, and the tough one against Magdalena, the Lady of the Woods.
Get a free exclusive skin
Players who try the open beta, they will get a Flayed Harbinger cosmetic skin for free. You just need to spend 30 minutes in gameplay to permanently unlock this cosmetic.
This skin will become available once the game launches on August 20, 2026. Also, if players progress beyond Marrow Keep during the beta, they will unlock the ability to skip the Prologue in the full game.
