2K Games has officially revealed the new NBA 2K27 gameplay trailer, which provides the first in-depth look at gameplay improvements & new features.
The trailer also showcases the cover superstars Victor Wembanyama, Caitlin Clark, and Derrick Rose and highlights major upgrades across the gameplay.
NBA 2K27 gets smarter & realistic
From the trailer, one big takeaway is that the game seems to be more balanced on-court. Defensive AI is receiving major improvement this year, which makes computer-controlled defenders far more effective.
They will properly contest shots, maintain proper positioning and react to offensive plays. This will have a bigger impact on competitive modes like The REC.
The next major addition is the new Dynamic Dunk Meter. The dunk timing window will now change in real time based on the defensive situation.
If the lane is open and there is no one to contest with, you will receive a large green timing window. But contested dunks will become much more difficult to execute successfully.
The trailer also showcases enhanced player animations and visuals. You can also see LeBron Jamesâ first look in his new team, the Philadelphia 76ers.
MyPLAYER, MyTEAM, and MyNBA receive major updates
There are going to be major updates across several game modes in NBA 2K27. MyPLAYER Builder is now going to include 53 badges, up from 40 in NBA 2K26, with 19 brand-new badges added.
There is also a unified cross-platform MyTEAM Auction House. Players from PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Switch 2 will now share a single marketplace. This will make finding cards easier, more stable pricing and will improve the auction experience.
They are also removing the verification delay after winning auctions. Your purchased cards will appear instantly in MyTEAM collections.
There are a number of upgrades aimed at realism with MyNBA such as incorporating support for the NBAâs updated Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). The leagueâs second apron salary cap system has been added to the mode, and it also offers a new option to negotiate with eligible free agents: No-Trade Clauses.
MyCAREER & The City
NBA 2K27 gameplay trailer also confirms that The City will return in the game. The biggest addition is the recreation of the legendary Rucker Park.
The new story, âFire & Concrete,â is set on this iconic basketball court, which is the prelude to the MyCAREER story.
The developer hasnât provided any story details just yet, but more will be revealed at the 2K NBA 2K27 Preseason Breakdown event on August 18, when additional gameplay features and mode updates will be revealed.
