Sony eyes another old PlayStation IP
It appears Sony might be eyeing an old PlayStation IP that has been collecting dust. According to a report from MP1ST, Guerrilla Games is working on a Killzone remake with support from an external studio.
For now, this project is said to be very early in the stages of production. This franchise has been dormant for years and it might be a good time for PlayStation to revive the first-person shooter series.

It’s a remake, not a reboot!
It seems this new project is more likely a remake or remaster of the original game in the series, as opposed to a complete reboot. But as it is still in the developmental stages, the final direction may still be different.
In the report, it suggests that the original 2004 Killzone title is likely going to be the candidate for the new remake project. With the original title, Sony will be able to revive the franchise while also introducing this old IP to a new generation of fans and players.
When could Killzone remake development speed up?
Currently, Guerrilla Games is focusing on Horizon Hunters Gathering, which has reportedly gone through a reboot after the recent negative playtests.
Due to this, the remake project has allegedly been pushed back as the studio is focusing on fixing Horizon’s next entry.
Conclusion
If the reports are true, then we will have yet another classic first-person shooter franchise that will return with modern visuals and gameplay. However, this might take a very long time.
The remake could fill a void in Sony’s first-party roster, and it will give longtime fans a reason to tune back in to one of the brand’s classic shooter series.
Is Sony really making a new Killzone remake?
