The new console is here

As the leaks were suggesting about the potential release, Nintendo finally announced their Nintendo Switch 2 on January 16, 2025. The fans were already ready for the reveal and now the console is finally here.

A new direct event is schedule soon where more information about the console will be released. Let’s check out more details about the Switch 2 in this article.

Potential release window & Nintendo Switch 2 direct event

Nintendo has finally confirmed that the new successor Switch 2 will release in 2025, however, the exact date has not been revealed yet. Their website simply states, “The successor to Nintendo Switch releasing in 2025.”

Also, a Nintendo direct event is schedule for April 2, 2025, where Nintendo might reveal a in-dept review for their new console, new games and more. You can watch the direct event live on official Twitch and YouTube channel of Nintendo.

While it’s unclear whether this will involve a game presentation, we do know it will provide “a closer look at Nintendo Switch 2.” The broadcast times are yet to be confirmed. I believe that they might also reveal the release date and pricing for the console.

Cross-Compatibility, design & look

This is the best decision made by Nintendo as you will be able to play your old Switch 1 games in this console as well. The console will support both old and new exclusive games. However, there is one caution: not all original Switch titles will be compatible or completely supported on the new console. Nintendo’s website will provide more information about compatibility.

The Switch 2 maintains the beloved design ethos of its predecessor, with minor improvements. The Joy-Cons now snap onto the console rather than sliding, which improves usability. The console’s style is a sleek, all-black finish with brilliant red and blue accents, which maintains the classic Switch look while making it stand out.

Nintendo Switch 2 Pre-orders possible information

Pre-order sign-ups have already begun, with Best Buy leading the way. Although no pricing or availability information is available at this time, you can sign up to get notifications when pre-orders open. Hands-on experience events are planned for April, allowing fans to feel the new system firsthand.
