Octopath Traveler 0: Demo, release date & more details

3-hour demo out, progress carries over to main game & more

Square Enix has just dropped the information about their upcoming HD-2D RPG, Octopath Traveler 0, on PlayStation State of Play Japan.

An official 3-hour demo is out across PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2. The game is officially set to release on December 4, 2025. Let’s check out more details in this article.

This is a prequel of Kindlers of the Flame saga in signature HD-2D charm. Full three-hour prologue is available in the demo.

We go back to the beginning of the world with eight connected stories about flame-forged heroes. The demo suggests that immense grandeur right off the bat: Create your protagonist using the new character creator, choose a fiery backstory, adjust talents, and watch your own Kindler ignite.

You’ll face three mysterious Masters in boss confrontations that mix turn-based tactics with environmental elements. And the star? Town-building mechanics: rally residents, establish flame altars, and create villages that reflect your preferences.

It combines comfortable empire sentiments with pixel peril, all in Octopath’s beautiful, layered graphic style.

This demo is available right now on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2.

Final Thoughts

I recently played Final Fantasy Tactics and it was amazing. I am pretty excited to try the Octopath Traveler 0 demo. A full 3 hours of old-school tactical turn-based RPG is what I need right now.
