Overwatch comeback made Blizzard Xbox's top-performing studio

Best results since 2022!

Blizzard Entertainment has reportedly emerged as Xbox’s best-performing first-party studio and Overwatch & Diablo 4 have played a major part in it.

Blizzard has been one of Xbox’s shining success stories, as a new report quoting internal Microsoft messages shows that the game has surpassed its targets, despite a recent period of layoffs and studio restructuring.

Blizzard surpasses Microsoft 2026 expectations

The new report from Window Central claims that Blizzard finished FY26 ahead of Microsoft’s internal projections. This makes the studio a “top-performing studio ” within the XBOX gaming division.

This is a pretty big achievement considering all the challenges that Xbox has faced this year, especially the restructuring, price hike and the change of leadership.

Microsoft’s investment in Activision Blizzard continues to pay off, as can be seen from the company’s strong financial results, and the publisher’s flagship franchises still help to drive Xbox’s gaming business.

Overwatch brought one of the best performances!

One of the biggest contributors to Blizzard success is none other than their hero shooter live service game, Overwatch.

This game has struggled with player base engagement in recent years, especially after the launch of Marvel Rivals.

However, the recent changes and big updates have made the game’s comeback and helped to revitalize the game. Due to this, the game has produced some impressive commercial performance.

On the other hand, Diablo 4 continues to perform well throughout FY26. All the post-launch content, new expansions, and updates have helped to maintain the player base.

Blizzard President Johanna Faries has reportedly described the FY26 result as the company’s third-best revenue year in history.

The studio has also achieved two consecutive years of revenue growth. This has not been achieved since the launch of Overwatch in 2016.
