Atlus has once again ignited the excitement and hype among the fans and gamers by posting a cryptic message on X. This is related to Persona 5 The Phantom X, posted on May 13, 2025.

The graphic, which has a Persona 5-style calling card with the tagline “Retake Your Desire” and a new protagonist, indicates P5X’s global release, though no exact date has been announced. Let’s check out more details in this article.

Atlus’ teaser sparks hype

Now, the teaser posted by Atlus shows a figure in red and black, a distinct figure from Joker. Many fans thought that this might be the tease for Persona 6, but it isn’t.

Atlus captioned the post, “Think you dropped this…” “Stay tuned!” with an owl emoji symbolizing the game’s mascot, Lufel (Cattle), indicates an impending announcement.

A livestream is already scheduled for May 15, 2025, at 11:00 PM JST (10:00 AM EDT) will reveal Japan’s release date and include “information for the English version,” per the YouTube description.

There is a very good chance that we might see Persona 5 The Phantom X global release by the end of this year.

What is Persona 5 The Phantom X?

Persona 5 The Phantom X is developed by Black Wings Game Studio under Atlus’ supervision. This is a free-to-play JRPG with gacha mechanics, akin to Honkai: Star Rail.

This was released in April 2024 in Taiwan, China, South Korea, Macau and Hong Kong. It is available on iOS, Android, PC, and Steam.

The Japanese closed beta ran from November 29 to December 5, 2024. Set in a parallel Tokyo, P5X features a new protagonist, nicknamed Wonder, and his Phantom Thieves, who are led by owl mascot Lufel.

The game keeps Persona 5’s punk-rock aesthetic, turn-based combat, and social simulation, but replaces the calendar with an energy-based system.
