CS2 action straight from Bucharest

Counter-Strike 2 action is now getting more heated as PGL Bucharest 2025 kicks off in Romania, which marks it as a 2nd S-tier tournament of the year for PGL.

This event, which runs from April 6 to April 13, 2025, is a critical stop on the way to the BLAST Austin Major in June, with teams competing for a part of the $625,000 prize pool and valuable Valve Regional Standings (VRS) points. Let’s check out more details in this article.

PGL Bucharest 2025 format and team list

This tournament is going to feature 16 top CS2 teams. 12 teams have been invited directly based on their VRS rankings as of February 25, 2025, and four qualify through regional tournaments.

Notably, MOUZ, the defending PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025 champions, are absent this time, along with other prominent teams like Team Vitality, Team Spirit, and NAVI.

Two-stage format for PGL Bucharest 2025

  • Swiss Stage (April 6-10): All 16 teams compete in a Swiss format, with best-of-three (BO3) matches. Teams require three wins to advance to the playoffs, while three losses result in elimination.
  • Playoffs (April 11-13): The top eight teams advance to a single-elimination tournament, featuring BO3 matches leading up to a best-of-five (BO5) championship game. The winner receives $200,000 plus a big VRS bump.

The total prize pool for this tournament is $625,000 USD and here’s is the prize pool distribution:

  • 1st: $200,000
  • 2nd: $93,750
  • 3rd: $75,000
  • 4th: $43,750
  • 5th–8th: $31,250 each
  • 9th–11th: $15,625 each
  • 12th–14th: $9,375 each
  • 15th–16th: $6,250 each

Playoffs: April 11-13

The playoff schedule will be announced after the Swiss Stage, which ends on April 10. The top eight teams will fight in a single-elimination bracket at PGL Studios in Bucharest, with the grand final on April 13.
