48 teams are ready for the battle
One of the biggest PMGC 2024 will be arriving soon where 48 teams will compete with each other for a massive prize pool of $3 million.
For now, two teams are still left to be chosen which will be decided in a few days. In this article, we take a look at the tournament schedule, format and where you can watch the tournament live.
PMGC 2024 schedule and format
The PMGC is going to start on October 31, 2024, and will end on December 8, 2024. The tournament is separated into two stages which are league stages and grand finals.
League stages will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and the Grand finals will be held in London, United Kingdom.
According to Liquipedia, here is the full format of the tournament:
League – October 31, 2024 – November 24, 2024
- Group Stage: Oct 31st – Nov 17th, 2024
- 48 teams, divided equally into 3 groups of 16.
- Each group play exclusively in a certain week of 24 matches:
- Each week consists of 4 matchdays.
- Each matchday consists of 6 matches.
- The top 3 teams of each group advance to the Grand Finals.
- 4th – 11th place of each group advance to Survival Stage.
- The bottom 5 teams of each group are eliminated.
Survival Stage: Nov 20th – 22nd, 2024
- 24 teams, divided equally into 3 groups of 8.
- Each group play 6 matches per day for a total of 18 matches across 3 days in a Round-Robin format.
- The top 16 teams advance to Last Chance.
- The bottom 8 teams are eliminated.
Last Chance: Nov 23rd – 24th, 2024
- 16 teams.
- 12 matches.
- Top 6 teams advance to the Grand Finals.
- The bottom 10 teams are eliminated.
Grand Finals – December 6th – 8th, 2024
- 16 teams:
- 9 teams from Group Stage
- 6 teams from Last Chance
- 1 Host Region team directly invited
- 18 matches (6 each day).
Prize Money and Maps
The prize money for the PMGC 2024 is $3 million. For now, the full breakdown is not available yet. This is how matches will be played every day with different maps:
- Match 1 – Sanhok
- Match 2 – Erangel
- Match 3 – Erangel
- Match 4 – Erangel
- Match 5 – Miramar
- Match 6 – Miramar
