PS5, PS5 Pro & Portal prices increases globally starting from April 2, 2026

Sony has officially announced that it will be increasing the prices globally for the PS5, PS5 Pro and PlayStation Portal. The new pricing will take effect starting from April 2, 2026.
This is going to impact the major markets such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe and Japan. Let’s check out more details in this article.
New PS5 & PlayStation Pro pricing
The standard console will see a significant jump, increasing 100$ in the US. The new price for the console will be $649.99, up from $549.99.
The similar prices will be applied in the U.K, Europe and Japan. In the UK, it will cost £569.99 (£479.99), while in Europe it will cost €649.99 (€499.99). The same goes for Japan, ¥97,980 (¥79,980).
The digital version of PlayStation 5 is also affected. In the US, it will cost $599.99 and £519.99/€599.99/¥89,980 for the other places.
No doubt that the digital version is cheaper than the disc version. However, the biggest shock comes from PlayStation 5 Pro. The high-end console will increase from $749.99 to $899.99, a $150 hike.
That means £789.99 (up from £699.99) in the UK, €899.99 (up from €799.99) in Europe and ¥137,980 (an increase from ¥119,980) in Japan.
Now, PS5 Pro has become the most expensive console in the market. Despite its amazing performance and gaming capabilities, in this way players would like to save their money for PlayStation 6 instead.

PlayStation Portal also gets a price hike
The Sony handheld device, Portal, is also becoming more expensive. This will now retail for $249.99, reflecting a $50 increase.
Why are prices increasing for PlayStation consoles?
The price changes have all been attributed to “continued pressures in the global economic landscape.” Factors such as inflation, production costs, and supply chain challenges are likely the reason behind the increased pricing.
This is not the first time PlayStation hardware prices has increased. Several regions have already managed to see modifications due to similar economic situations, such as price rises in 2022 and 2024.
