Excited for a new Resident Evil game?

The long-running horror-survival game series will be back once again and we already have some Resident Evil 9 rumors. Capcom has done a great job when it comes to making horror storyline games and fans are eagerly anticipating what else the franchise has in store for them.

Speculations about the game and release date have also been going out and we will discuss everything about the new game in this article.

What to Expect from Resident Evil 9?

The Resident Evil 9 might be titled ‘APOCALYPSE’ and it is expected to be revealed at the next PlayStation State of Play. It is expected that the Sony Playstation event will be held within a few days.

This game is going to have Leon S. Kennedy and Jill Valentine as protagonists and it will have some open-world elements. Now it is still not clear whether it would be a completely open-world or a linear-type story with some open-world elements.

Kōshi Nakanishi will be the director for this game, who was also responsible for Resident Evil 7. It will also have a third-person perspective this time.

The zombies will be faster and more aggressive and the game will have a rural Southeast Asian setting. It is also expected to have a co-op. The game will arrive for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

We can expect an announcement in the PlayStation State of Play while the full game reveal and trailer at The Game Awards in December 2024.

Thoughts on Open World

The Resident Evil games have always had more open-world elements if we compare them to the story mode campaign from Call of Duty. The best part about the series is to let the players roam on their own.

Examples: the house in RE1 and 7; the creepy village and vampire lady’s castle in 8, the town and all the small houses in RE4, the police station in 2.

This level of open-world elements is where you have to collect the keys and clues and solve the mysteries in the game. The whole open world can work, but it should be more compressed in a confined space, or else it won’t be scary and feel like a typical monster-hunting (Zombies) sort of game.
