Sandfall Interactive’s debut title was a huge success, and it even won most awards at the Game Awards 2025. The influence appears to be shaping the core gameplay of Shift Up’s next project, particularly in the combat department.
Unlike Stellar Blade, which had fast action-paced combat, Project Spirits is said to be adopting the turn-based combat system.
This means that the players will have to rely more on strategic and methodical gameplay experience.

The reports also suggest that this game is not fully developed in-house. A large portion of the development is said to be outsourced to teams in China.
While Shift Up’s primarily Korean developers are mainly focused on developing Stellar Blade 2, which is also targeting a 2027 release.
