What does the future hold?
The release of Astro Bot in October and winning the Game award, have ignited a wave of nostalgia among Sony PlayStation fans. Until now, we have seen mostly the remastered works of Uncharted and Horizon, but fans now want to see more classic franchises IP.
PlayStation Co-CEO Herman Hulst has shown interest in reviving some class games during an interview. Let’s check out more details in this article.
Sony PlayStation Co-CEO thoughts
In an informative interview with the Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, PlayStation Co-CEO Herman Hulst discussed the potential of reintroducing these iconic titles. He said that the old classic IPs hold great value for them. Here’s what he said, “The numerous IP holdings we hold are important assets for PlayStation, and as part of our efforts to strengthen our portfolio, we are continuously looking at opportunities to leverage past IPs, as well as developing new franchises.”
Hulst also emphasized PlayStation’s dedication to quality, regardless of whether the games are developed internally by PlayStation Studios or by other partners, recognizing these outside developers’ significant contributions to the PlayStation ecosystem.
Fans are not new to this as this has been a trend in the gaming industry. Sega has already experienced success by remaking some old classics like Golden Axe, Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, and Streets of Rage. This shows fans will love new sequels or remakes of the old games.

Even, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, which is a new entry in the series was well received by fans at The Game Awards. So, fans will love to see Sony PlayStation reviving the old classic games with new sequels or remastered versions.
Personally, I would like to see Bloodborne (Obvious), Gravity Rush, Infamous, and many more. We just hope that Sony PlayStation will really do it instead of just giving the fans false hope. What old games would like to see? Do let us know in the comment section.
