Finally, we are back to gaming!

Sony has finally addressed the issue of the PlayStation Network Outage for nearly 20 hours between Friday and Saturday, February 7 to February 8. This outage really made many fans go wild on the weekends.

At least, the servers are now back and running and didn’t repeat the 2011 incident. This has been linked to an “operational issue,” however specifics remain unknown. Let’s check out more details in this article.

What happened during the PlayStation Network Outage?

On February 7, at about 6 p.m. ET, the PlayStation Network went offline, preventing users from signing in, playing online, or accessing the PlayStation Store. At 3:40 PM ET on February 8, the service began to recover. During the outage, Sony offered a few updates, acknowledging the problem hours after it occurred and then verifying the restoration of services.

In a late-night social media statement on February 8, Sony announced that “Network services have fully recovered from an operational issue. We regret the inconvenience and appreciate the community’s patience. The company did not comment on the cause or propose solutions to avoid future delays.

Compensation for PlayStation Plus members

To make sure the fans and subscribers are happy, PlayStation Plus subscribers will get an additional 5 days of service which will be automatically added to their existing plan. This gesture is intended to compensate for the nearly full day of missed access, which has irritated many players worldwide.

Some fans think that this is still not enough and that PlayStation should have given a free game as well, while some are happy with the compensation. Some really don’t care and are glad that at least the servers are back online.

However, the most annoying thing about this whole PlayStation Network Outage was Sony’s lack of communication. They should have at least informed fans about the problem from time to time instead of saying nothing. What are your thoughts on the PlayStation Network Outage?
