Sony has officially confirmed that they will stop producing the PlayStation physical game disc for games starting from January 2028.

This decision wasn’t a surprise, as the company has been preparing for this transition by reducing physical disc media production and closing disc production facilities.
At this point, we can say that this might be the coming end of physical game discs in the gaming industry. Everything might move to digital only.
