“I am Sorry”
The former PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida has expressed his regret over the performance on Sony PSVR2 in an recent on the Kinda Funny Gamescast.
This VR didn’t perform the the way that they expected. Yoshida shifted to focusing on indie games within PlayStation after stepping down as President of SIE Worldwide Studios in 2019. Let’s check out more details in this article.
Not like PS2?
Shuhei Yoshida expected Sony PSVR2 to perform like PS2, however, the reality was different. He offered an apology stating, “I’m sorry I was wrong, PSVR2 didn’t become PS2.” He also asked to move on with some other question as he was not interested to talk about this situation.
Despite his minimal role in the development and release of PSVR2, which took place in February 2023, Yoshida felt forced to meet the community’s expectations. When asked about the reasons behind the VR headset’s reception, he laughed and suggested that the discussion continue.
Yoshida also shared some of his memorable PSVR2 lineup mentioning Synapse and Before Your Eyes as his favorite experiences. However, the overall among the fans regarding the experience with this VR console has been not up to the mark.
Sony has not released official sales data, and Horizon Call of the Mountain was the only first-party product from PlayStation Studios at launch. The lack of exclusive content has been a source of concern.
Although PSVR2 has received strong third-party support with titles such as Metro Awakening and Alien: Rogue Incursion, competition from platforms such as Meta Quest 3, which provide a wider choice of unique games, has eclipsed its attraction.

Community Reactions
This article has been sourced from Pushsquare and UploadVR2. I have read many fans comments and reactions regarding this topic.
Some of them talked about how decent this headset was but not extraordinary. Some were even talking about how Sony can’t handle multiple hardware and consoles all at once. This is where they make most of the mistakes and should focus on only one console at the moment.
Many fans also talked about how it lacked in comparison to Meta Quest 3 and if anyone wants to buy a VR headset for gaming, they will not consider PSVR2 as their choice. What are your thoughts on this console? Do let us know in the comment section.
