Splitgate developers is reportedly making a spiritual successor to Titanfall

The game is called ‘Empulse’

A new report from Insider Gaming states that the Splitgate developers, 1047 Games, are working on a brand new multiplayer shooter, which is heavily inspired by the Titanfall franchise.

For now, this project is titled as ‘Empulse’ and is said to combine fast-paced movement mechanics, featuring giant mechs and futuristic combat.

In the pre-alpha demo, Empulse displays elements that will be familiar to Titanfall fans. In the most difficult Team Deathmatch matches, players can jump from pad to pad, wall jump, and use grapples to traverse a level rapidly.

There is no doubt that one of the most standout elements of the leaked footage is the inclusion of a giant controllable mech on the battlefield.

These remind of the Titan from Titanfall, which provided players with devastating weapons and defensive abilities.

Players will also be able to grapple directly into the mech and can use it’s gatling gun to dominate the battlefield.

According to reports, the Mech will also have a protective shield and a missile launcher with cooldown-based abilities.

For now, there are no details about whether there will be multiple mech classes or not, but the gameplay will be heavily focused on mobility and large-scale encounters.

Earlier this year, Ian Proulx revealed that a small in-house team was working on a new shooter, inspired by Titanfall and Call of Duty: Black Ops III, that will feature a “movement-based gameplay system.” This new discovery would take the project to what it could really be like.

Conclusion

After the mixed reaction from Splitgate 2 and Splitgate Arena, 1047 Games is now looking forward to Empulse and making it the new main focus of the studio.

For years, many fans have asked for a new Titanfall game and if everything goes right, 1047 Games might deliver a great spiritual successor to the franchise.

This game is currently in pre-alpha development and there is no release date yet. However, the reports claim that this game might be revealed later in 2026.
