Very close to a million

The most recent and famous ‘Stop Killing Games’ Petition, which is led by a YouTuber, Ross Scott, has hit a major milestone with 900,000 signatures.

It is on its way to a million very soon and the petition deadline is July 31, 2025. This European Citizens’ Initiative is gathering traction, trying to hold video game publishers accountable for making purchased titles useless by discontinuing support, a process Scott refers to as “planned obsolescence.”

Million can be achieved by tomorrow

The support for the Stop Killing Games has become more stronger day by day and every gamer wants to preserve the video games.

This is a challenge to the gaming industry norm, where games, sold without an expiration date, become unplayable once publishers shut down the servers or cease updates.

This affects and frustrates gamers a lot, who lose access to their purchase, but also threatens the culture of video games for the future.

Scott argues that this method is largely untested legally, endangering both customers and the ability to archive games for future generations.

The petition, posted on the European People’s Initiative platform, requires 1 million signatures from EU people to persuade the European Commission to propose new legislation.

At 900,000 signatures, it’s very close, with recent surges—gaining thousands of signatures in hours—indicating significant community support.

The campaign’s website, StopKillingGames.com, provides a simple way for EU residents to sign up and learn more.

Seeing the fast trend and support, it won’t be wrong to say that it might achieve the 1 million mark by tomorrow.

Support from big content creators

Stop Killing Games has also received support from big content creators and streamers recently, which has massively boosted the petition.

From Pewdiepie, Jacksepticeye, XQC to AsmonGold, they not only love video games, but they also support and raise their voices for this petition.

Even if you are reading from India or any other country, maybe we can’t join this European Petition for now, but we can share this message on social media as a gamer who loves video games.
