Zelnick acknowledged that Gen AI is pretty useful for improving efficiency and reducing costs. However, he has firmly stated that Gen AI has not been used in GTA 6 development.
It is also not capable of creating great entertainment on its own, especially not at the Rockstar Games level.
According to Strauss Zelnick, GTA VI is being built the traditional Rockstar way. Here is the reason why they will not use Gen AI:
“Generative AI has zero part in what Rockstar Games is building. Their worlds are handcrafted. That’s what differentiates them. They’re built from the ground up, building by building, street by street, neighborhood by neighborhood. They’re not procedurally generated, they shouldn’t be.”
