Oblivion in its full glory
After 19 years, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered version is out, developed by Virtuos Games. This was revealed in the latest livestream from Bethesda Studios.
This remastered RPG from 2006 is available now for $49.99 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Bethesda.net).
The game is also available on Xbox Game Pass from day one. Another reason why Game Pass is so much better than PS Plus subscription.
Visual overhaul with Unreal Engine 5
It won’t be wrong to say that Virtuos has really given Oblivion a complete overhaul in terms of graphics. This game looks more like a remake.
“We’ve modernized a lot, but it’s still the same incredible adventure,” said Tom Mustaine, Bethesda’s external projects director, during the reveal.
The best part is that the remastered base version will contain all the DLC from the 2006 Oblivion as well.

Modernized gameplay and features
Oblivion remastered has also gotten a complete makeover in its gameplay, combat and many other things like:
- Improved Combat: Enhanced enemy animations, sound effects, and visual feedback add weight to first-person battles.
- Streamlined Systems: A reworked UI, updated leveling, and a new sprint button make exploration smoother.
- NPC AI Tweaks: Radiant AI is less quirky, improving immersion.
Fans want to know if Oblivion’s iconic glitches, such as paintbrush stairways to the sky, will survive the remaster.
While the original engine exists, it is unknown whether these peculiarities will survive. Modding, a feature of Bethesda games, is another heated issue.
Bethesda has not verified whether existing Oblivion mods are compatible or if the remaster enables modding as well as the original.
Given the active modding community on Nexus Mods, solutions should emerge as gamers dig in. This is according to Polygon.
I was pretty excited about the Clair Obscur Expedition 33 release, but now I have to change my plans. There is no way that I am going to miss this masterpiece.
One of the best RPGs from old times is back in its full glory and I am ready to spend my time like crazy. You can expect guides and reviews on the Oblivion Remastered pretty soon.
