What we know so far

Since the announcement and trailer for The Witcher 4 at The Game Awards 2024, the fans and community have been busy with debates. Will Geralt be in this game? Is Ciri the main protagonist, etc.?  Another such topic is related to map size and how big they will be.

Well, the CD Projekt Red has cleared so many things and recently they have also talked about the map size. Let’s check out more details in this article.

The Witcher 4 map size

The news and source come from N4G where in an interview, Sebastian Kalemba and Gosia Mitrega, the CDPR’s Game Director and Executive Producer reveal some information on the map size and quest.

“The map is more or less the same regarding the size. The amount of quests – more or less the same
First and foremost, we want to deliver a super compelling experience, so, again, quality over quantity
” said Sebastian Kalemba.

CD Projekt Red aspires to provide a “super compelling” experience, which implies a deep, engaging narrative and rich world-building rather than sheer scale.

The Witcher 4 setting the scene in the far North?

Now this is based on fan speculation and his crucial insights. According to SynthPotato, The Witcher 4 will be based on Far North. The village that was shown in the trailer is called “Stormfort” which players would be able to explore in the game.

The Far North is an extremely interesting area because it takes place north of the familiar Northern Kingdoms, beyond the Dragon Mountains. This is the farthest north we have ever been in any Witcher game, and it is only one of the regions in The Witcher 4, which will include multiple open worlds similar to The Witcher 3.

According to legend, the Far North inhabitants are tough-looking, wear predominantly fur garments, and speak unintelligible languages. It’s a natural habitat for white dragons! There may also have been mammoths.

If this is true, then we might have to fight Dragons and Mammoths in The Witcher 4 which might be really awesome. Overall, I can’t wait to play this game already. What are your thoughts on this? Do let us know in the comment section.
