Halo Studios is shifting its focus somewhere else!

Just a few days ago, we reported that Halo Studios is working on a Halo Multiplayer game, Project Ekur, but now there are some new details about this project.

It appears that this unannounced multiplayer project is now cancelled internally. This information comes directly from Halo insider Rebs Gaming, who says that his multiple sources have confirmed that this project is not in development.

Project Ekur reportedly cancelled

According to Rebs Gaming, this project officially began as a prototype at Certain Affinity. This studio has worked with Xbox on Halo projects for many years.

The development of the project was later transferred to Halo Studios. The team didn’t spend too much time on development.

During the summer, the direction for this project changed. According to the report, one part of the team was reportedly reassigned to work on another project, which is known as Halo: Campaign Evolved.

For now, there is no exact reason revealed as to why the project has been cancelled. But the staffing changes are believed to be one of the reasons.

Traditional multiplayer might be the focus

Rebs Gaming also talked about the Halo Studios previously confirmed announcement during the Halo Championship Series (HCS) before the end of the year.

Since this championship revolves around competitive Halo gameplay, the rumors and speculation suggest that the studio might be prioritizing a more traditional multiplayer experience instead of Project Ekur.

This is expected to be revealed later this year. For now, neither Xbox nor Halo Studios has confirmed anything about the Ekur project cancellation or reveal.

Has Halo Studios officially canceled Project Ekur?

No. Halo Studios has not made any official announcement. The cancellation is based on reports from Halo insider Rebs Gaming and unnamed sources.

What was Project Ekur?

Project Ekur was reportedly an unannounced Halo multiplayer game that began development at Certain Affinity before moving to Halo Studios.

Is Halo still getting a new multiplayer game?

Possibly. Reports indicate Halo Studios may still be working on other multiplayer projects, including a rumored live-service Halo experience, though nothing has been officially confirmed.
