Epic Games has finally revealed the Unreal Engine 6, which marks the next major evolution of its industry-leading gaming technology. This announcement was officially made during the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) 2026 Paris Major.

Rocket League becomes the first game shown on Unreal Engine 6
The trailer they released was for the popular free-to-play vehicle soccer game, Rocket League, and Psyonix’s signature game. Since its inception in 2015, the game has used Unreal Engine 3 and this is the game’s first significant change to its engine since then.
The teaser footage does not reveal any live multiplayer game footage; it only showcases the visual advancement possible with Unreal Engine 6.
Fans were able to notice the improved reflections on vehicle surfaces, more realistic lighting, enhanced visual environments, denser foliage and greater visual fidelity.
There is no doubt that this game is going to receive the most significant graphical upgrades since the game has launched.
When will Unreal Engine 6 release?
For now, Epic Games has not announced the release date for this engine. However, Tim Sweeney has previously suggested that the preview versions of the engine could become available sometime in 2027 or 2028.
This new engine is also expected to unify technologies from Unreal Engine 5 while integrating tools developed for Fortnite and more.
