Too costly?

Celebrating the ‘Year of the Snake,’ Riot Games has released a new VALORANT bundle, Flex. However, it appears that the fans and community are not happy with the pricing segment.

Along with the new “Flex” item, the package, which costs 6,940 points (about $70), comes with a number of other goods, such as a card, spray, and weaponry skins for the Phantom and Spectre. Let’s check out more details in this article.

What is ‘Flex’?

The Flex item is primarily visual, allowing players to showcase a unique thing in their character’s hand throughout matches. Flex goods, unlike weapons or utility items, provide no gameplay advantage and instead emphasize personal style.

This Flex item from the Helix bundle is priced at 1,375 VALORANT points just 400 points shy away from the Phantom skin. For many fans, this price is way too ridiculous and has been regarded as ‘Overpriced.’

Players have expressed their dissatisfaction, stating that such a cosmetic should be priced similarly to gun buddies or sprays, which are substantially cheaper.

Community backlash

The fan’s and community reactions on Twitter and Reddit are very negative regarding this overpricing. Players are furious not only about the price, but also about Riot Games’ apparent disregard for more critical community demands, like as improved replay systems, greater ranking awards, and the much-discussed honor system.

Furthermore, the inability to preview the Flex item before purchasing fuels the anger. Unlike other cosmetics in VALORANT, where you can see how they look in action, the Helix Flex’s appearance in-game is unknown until purchased, which has further added to gamers’ discontent.

The Helix bundle has rekindled issues about “bundle inflation” in VALORANT. Since the game’s release in 2020, there has been a growing perception that cosmetic item costs have been continuously rising without commensurate value increases, resulting in a sense of buyer fatigue within the community.
