EA is looking forward to annual releases in 5-6 years
Industry insider Michael Pachter has once again come up with some interesting things which has stirred the commotion on the internet. What’s next for Battlefield 6?
According to him, EA is planning to turn the Battlefield franchise into an annual release within the next five to six years. Let’s check out more details in this article.
Road to annual releases
Michael Pachter revealed this information on his Pachter Factor video. The Battlefield’s General Manager, Byron Beede, has a big ambition to copy the Call of Duty yearly cycle.
So what’s the plan? How are they gonna do it? The three studios: DICE, Motive, and Ripple Effect will work in a three-year rotation for this plan.
Patcher also admits this in the video that this plan is still very far away. Insider Gaming has also checked to confirm with Byron Beede, but hasn’t heard anything from him yet. We will keep you guys updated when they receive any new information.
Battlefield 6, produced by four firms, including Criterion, is allegedly on a good track, but Pachter doubts annual full games will maintain quality.
He wonders about alternate “experiences,” possibly revisiting long-rumored notions such as a dinosaur mode, especially after the Battle Royale experiment.
Final thoughts
So far, everyone is pretty excited for Battlefield 6 and the open beta is proving that Battlefield is finally back. The game will launch on October 10, 2025, for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC.
But not everyone is quite happy after reading the possibility that this franchise might copy Call of Duty’s annual release schedule.
This will totally bring down the quality of the games, just like it did for Call of Duty and Assassin’s Creed. Getting a good game in 2-3 years with good quality is what the fans want.
For now, nothing is confirmed yet and maybe there is a possibility that after receiving backlash from the fans, EA might change this plan.
When does Battlefield plan to release annually?
Michael Pachter claims EA aims for annual releases in 5-6 years, but it’s not confirmed yet.
What’s the current status of Battlefield 6?
It’s in development by DICE, Motive, Ripple Effect, and Criterion, and appears to be on a successful path, releasing on October 10, 2025.
What’s the dinosaur mode rumor about?
It’s a long-discussed idea for a unique Battlefield experience, possibly part of future content plans.
