Blade might be cool, but he needs serious buffs
The fans and players are currently enjoying the new Marvel Rivals Season 3.5 and the latest DPS character, Blade.
Everything about him is cool and probably one of the best characters released by NetEase. However, the same cannot be said about his performance. Let’s check out more details in this article.
Blade needs serious buffs
Blade kit might sound pretty overpowered and broken with all his abilities and healing reduction, especially that Ultimate, which even plays the classic trap music from the movie.
However, in reality, he is one of the worst DPS characters right now and playing in rank means the same as throwing. His recent hotfix from NetEase even removed his one bread and butter combo as well.
Many people will think that it’s a skill issue, but it’s not. Even after playing in high lobbies and being played by top pro players on Twitch, everyone agreed that this guy needs serious buffs.

List of problems
His Ultimate ability, Thousand-Fold Slash, charges and delivers slash attacks, which implies reduced healing on impact.
It’s very easy to avoid this Ultimate; just move left or right. The reduced healing dose doesn’t really make an impact and this Ultimate can be said to be pretty weak.
Many times, you either need to combo your ult with some other character or try to take out a single enemy to have an impact.
I think making a wider range or applying a slow effect to this ability can be a great buff.
His lifesteal isn’t that good because it creates conflicts with the reduced healings as well. You may even die in the defensive Ultimate if you are in your blood awakening ability.
His lifesteal needs a serious buff, the same goes for the blade stats. This character is more like a gun, which is the only useful part of his kit.
Even the shotgun pellets are pretty inconsistent. His stacks with blade take longer to charge and they decay very fast.
I think Blade needs a serious patch buff, just like Human Torch, when he was released. He is a very cool character and very fun to play. But right now, playing him is just like throwing games.
Why do players think he needs buffs in Marvel Rivals?
His Ultimate is easy to dodge, lifesteal is weak, shotgun pellets are inconsistent, and blade stacks charge slowly, making him underperform in ranked play.
What could improve his gameplay?
Buffs to lifesteal, blade stats, and a stronger, more versatile Ultimate could make him competitive, similar to Human Torch’s early fixes.
