Egyptian or Maya Mythology?

The God of War game series has always been associated with the mythological worlds and fans have loved the Kratos journey throughout the series. However, now some insider news and rumors claim that we might hear an announcement on a new sequel at The Game Awards.

Many fans think that it might be soon for a new game, however, it is for sure that we will get a new title from Santa Monica soon. It was already teased at the end of Ragnarok. Let’s check out more details in this article.

God of War new rumors

According to leaks by Lunatic Ignus (@ignusthewise on X), there is a chance that we might get a new God of War game announcement on December 13, 2024, at The Game Awards. Also around December 3, 2024, coinciding with PlayStation’s 30th anniversary, this might be another venue for unveiling Kratos’ next move.

For now, consider this as only rumors, nothing is confirmed yet. The insider known as Lunatic Ignus has a very good track record when it comes to leaks. His information on Black Myth Wukong has been pretty accurate before.

While the community is excited, there is some uncertainty about what this could mean. Many suspect that it may not be a new era, but rather a remastered compilation celebrating the franchise’s twentieth anniversary.

Getting the Greek Saga remaster version on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S is the best guess what many fans can think now. For them, a new announcement of the game is pretty soon from the Studios.

What could be next?

The Santa Monica Studio has not released any official statement regarding the new game. However, among the fans, there is already widespread speculation and rumors about the next mythological setting.

Egyptian mythology appears to be a fitting continuation, rounding out a triad of great “Western” mythologies. However, the creative team may surprise us with a turn to Eastern mythology or perhaps the Maya’s rich histories.

What do you guys think about these rumors and where do you want Krato’s next adventure? Do let us know in the comment section.
