Xbox Developer Direct returns in January 2026: Forza Horizon 6 gameplay, Gears of War & more

Microsoft and Xbox are getting all ready for the Xbox Developer Direct in January 2026. There was hardly anything we saw in the Game Awards 2025 from them, but now we are sure that they are ready for a good event next month.

Forza Horizon 6 in Xbox Developer Direct

Matt Booty seems pretty excited about the event. Playground Games (Forza Horizon, Fable) is already confirmed to be a part of this event. So, you can easily expect a new trailer or gameplay reveal for Forza Horizon 6. This game is expected to release in early 2026.

Here’s what Matt has to say about the developer direct:

I can’t share exactly what’s there, but we’ve got a lot of stuff that we’re shipping next year. In fact, usually Dev Direct is about highlighting what’s coming up for the year ahead. This year, we’ve got more stuff coming up than we can fit in one show.

What else can we expect from Xbox Developer Direct 2026?

Based on the recent reveals and speculations, here are our predictions:

If you are expecting Elder Scrolls 6, then we have to remind you that Todd Howard recently cleared the rumors and said that the game is still a long way off. So, we won’t be seeing that any time soon.

In January 2025, at Xbox Developer Direct, we saw the deep dive reveal for DOOM: The Dark Ages, South of Midnight, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Ninja Gaiden 4 and Ninja Gaiden 2: Black.

For now, we have Forza Horizon 6 or Fable probably making an appearance and hopefully more amazing reveals at the event.
