It appears that the rumors were true, as Nintendo has now officially announced the Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct & Nintendo Direct for next week.
It will start with the Zelda Direct on September 8 and then a full Direct showcase on September 9, 2026. Zelda franchise is celebrating its 40th anniversary, so you can expect some big announcements in this Direct. Let’s check out more details in this article.

Date & timings for Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct & Nintendo Direct
The first showcase will be Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct, which is officially scheduled for September 8, 2026, at 7:00 AM PT/ 7:30 PM IST.
This presentation will run for aprrox 30 minutes and it will celebrate the four decades of one of the most iconic franchises in the gaming industry.
After that, there will be a 45-minute Nintendo Direct that is scheduled for September 9, 2026, at 7:00 AM PT/ 7:30 PM IST.
Where to watch?
Fans and gamers can watch both of these livestreams on the official Nintendo YouTube channel. Gaming media outlets and your favourite gaming creators will also be co-streaming these events.
What to expect?
From Zelda Direct, the long-awaited gameplay reveal for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake will be showcased. This game is scheduled to release later this year for Nintendo Switch 2. Along with the gameplay reveal, there is a good possibility that we might also get the official release date.
We might also learn more about the upcoming Zelda live-action movie. Maybe a trailer and confirmation of the cast.
Metroid Ravenous, a new side-scrolling game that is rumored to be based on the critically acclaimed Metroid Dread, may become a reality on the main Direct.
